The AC and Regulation

The CNHC Aromatherapy Register was launched in May of 2009. The CNHC is endorsed by the Department of Health. At the bi-annual meeting with Professional Associations on 17 November 2009, Kate Ling Head of European and Specialist Legislation at the Department of Health confirmed that “CNHC is the only voluntary regulatory body for complementary healthcare which has official government backing. No other organisation has the same exacting criteria or focus on patient safety and quality across a range of therapies…..

The more people who register with the CNHC the more it will be recognised as the only organisation which provides the guarantees that members of the public are looking for.

The CNHC works with the AC to ensure that all aromatherapy registrants meet the National Occupational Standards for Aromatherapy and have fulfilled all the requirements as set out in the AC Core Curriculum. The AC member associations verify to the CNHC that their members meet the CNHC standards for registration

The CNHC accepts qualifications that meet the Aromatherapy National Occupational Standards AND the AC’s Core Curriculum together which is the AC minimum standard for its Member Associations membership
